Prime Minister of Georgia: “One Belt, One Road” Expands Trade Channels and Promotes Economic and Trade Cooperation

Xinhua News Agency, Tbilisi, October 22 (Reporter Li Ming) Georgian Prime Minister Ghahariya said on the 22nd that the “One Belt, One Road” initiative will promote economic and trade cooperation between China and the rest of the world. Georgia supports this initiative.

On the same day, Gaharia said at the opening ceremony of the Tbilisi International Silk Road Forum that Georgia is one of the first countries in the world to actively respond to the “Belt and Road Initiative” initiative. This initiative is based on mutually beneficial cooperation and aims to expand new international trade channels and promote economic and trade exchanges between China and the rest of the world.

Gaharia said that the cooperation between Georgia and China under the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative” has yielded fruitful results and effectively promoted the development of bilateral economic and trade relations.

Gaharia stressed that the Tbilisi International Silk Road Forum is an important opportunity and platform for countries to participate in the “Belt and Road Initiative” initiative. The participating parties will discuss in depth the various economic challenges facing the international community at the forum, share experiences and seek effective ways to solve problems.

The two-day Tbilisi Silk Road International Forum, hosted by the Georgian government, aims to provide a platform for dialogue and cooperation to promote interregional trade facilitation. The forum has been held twice in 2015 and 2017.

The forum set up multiple sub-forums on topics such as transportation, trade, energy and tourism, and about 2,000 representatives from government and business circles from more than 60 countries participated.
